Leslie Jones is leaving “Saturday Night Live” ahead of its 45th season. Jones started as a writer for the sketch comedy show and was added to the cast in its 40th season. Here’s a look back at her funniest sketches.
“Etiquette Lesson”: Jones gets a lesson in tea time etiquette from a not-so-nice British instructor, played by Emma Thompson. Hold onto your teacups as this skit veers off unexpectedly and hilariously.
“Escorts”: Jones shares the screen with another British thesp — this time actress Emily Blunt. The duo play high-class hookers who offer their unusual services to two clients, played by cast members Mikey Day and Alex Moffat.
“Olive Garden”: Jones stands out in the ensemble sketch featuring Scarlett Johansson. With her over-the-top facial expressions, Jones proves she’s gifted at physical comedy as well.
“Wedding Objections”: Jones plays Alberta, a WNBA player who discovers her family and friends object to her marrying Martin Freeman. The congregation thinks they’re a mismatch instead of a match made in heaven.
“Farm Hunk”: Jones appears at the very end of this “Bachelor” parody but her performance is worth the wait. She makes her hunky suitor — country star Blake Shelton — an offer he can’t refuse.
“This Is How I Talk”: Jones portrays Brenda, the no-nonsense manager of a Sprint store. She catches new employee Donald (Louis C.K.) mocking the way she speaks, but he claims he’s “talking like his damn self.” Despite two flubs at the beginning, Jones recovers and comes back strong.
“Weekend Update: Leslie Jones on Being Hacked”: Jones spoke candidly about her nude photo hack, reclaiming ownership over the situation. “You can’t embarrass me more than I have embarrassed myself. I know all the details because I was there!” she said.
